Senior Financial Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this role is to ensure the smooth running of the organization’s operations for and on behalf of
GPA Holdings in Rwanda and internationally where GPA has affiliations and holds stakes in all countries where
they operate.

ABOUT GPA HOLDINGS LTD. (GPA)

We are a private company incorporated in Rwanda since February 2018. The company is a holding with investments in Rwanda, South Africa, and other African countries. In Rwanda, GPA’s activities include sales and distribution of Afrikoa Chocolates to wholesales, hotels, airlines, and restaurants. GPA invests in various sectors such as commodities, hospitality, and real estate. Within 3 years of existence, the organization is growing its portfolio of assets across countries and new sectors.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our expanding company is seeking to hire a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Senior Leadership Team. Reporting to the Director of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), the Senior Financial Analyst will join a newly
established department to play an instrumental role in the growth stage of the organization.

The role entails planning, preparing, and organizing all aspects of the new department. To do this, the right candidate must be someone who can bring a high level of professionalism, proactivity, financial & operational integrity, creativity, collaboration, high taste of excellence, and energy to the GPA Team. The successful candidate will work closely with various stakeholders within and outside of GPA Rwanda to meet the company’s strategic investment goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Investments

- Coordinate and optimize the annual strategic planning process and work with the Senior Management
Team and Board of Directors to determine investment plans to deliver on short and long-term goals.
- Being called upon to assess new investment opportunities, Business Cases and offer opinions as needed
- Train and build internal financial analysis, market research, and data management, investment review
and transaction capacity using existing resources and ensure their readiness to prepare Investment
Memorandums and Business Plans to support GPA decision-making.
- Leading Integrations of new acquisitions together with key internal and external stakeholders by setting
up Troubleshooting Task Forces as required
- Collecting Data & building dashboards to Generate the GPA Country /Sector and Thematic and
Priorities mapped Reporting
- Lead the preparation of the Balanced Score Card and the GPA Group’s Annual Report.

Reporting

- Issuing Weekly Reports /Dashboards to the Managing Director & Country Representative and Director
of Investment, Merging, and Acquisitions.
- Working with the Operation Manager and Head of Finance to generate monthly/quarterly/Yearly
statements.
- Preparing cash flow analysis and advising the Country Representative & Managing Director and Director
of Investment, Mergers, and Acquisitions.
- Prepare Business Plans and Investment Memorandum as requested by GPA management.
- Oversee and Review Reports of Subsidiaries wholly owned and prepare high standards consolidated
GPA Annual Report.

REQUIREMENTS

- Minimum of 5 years active with prior or further involvement in Investment Operations or Corporate
Finance.
- Excellent knowledge of operations management, budgeting, forecasting, investment and performance analysis, and reporting to Senior Management (CEO and Board Levels).
- Excellent organizational and communication skills and capacity to follow up systematically and efficiently on a broad set of initiatives and decisions to deliver high-quality work on schedule. Ability to anticipate, coordinate and prioritize high work volumes in an action-oriented manner
- Strong analytical skills to review and analyze complex financial information and the ability to interpret complex data, assimilate information from a wide range of sources, develop innovative solutions, and make recommendations with incomplete information when necessary, and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Advanced financial, credit, and valuation skills, with demonstrated ability to assess or structure a proposal (Business Plans, Investment Memorandums) with a variety of complex financial instruments (debt and equity), which implies exhibiting the ability to use industry analysis, financial forecasting, business model evaluation, scenario analysis, and other forms of data-driven modeling, excellent command of various valuation techniques and practices to derive strategic insight and inform executive decision-making
- Monitoring performance of the portfolio positions and reporting on the relative contribution of each Profit Unit to the overall group’s growth.
- Ability to prepare management reports framework such as Balanced Score Cards and state of art consolidated Group Annual Reports.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Certification and proven experience in Financial Modelling Business benchmarks and Statistical Software
- Trained and proven experience in Equity and Business Valuation
- Certification and proven experience in Project Management including software packages, Monitoring, and Results-Based Management as well as Score Balance Cards
- Experience across several financial products, including project finance, corporate debt, and equity Prior experience in Mergers & Acquisitions is highly desired
- Accreditation as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is considered a plus.
- Familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) and understanding of Audit processes

LANGUAGES

- English & French
- Basic knowledge of Kinyarwanda and Swahili is advantageous
