JOB DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this role is to ensure the smooth running of the organization’s petroleum trading operations for and on behalf of GPA Holdings in Rwanda and internationally where GPA has affiliations and holds stakes in all countries where they operate.

ABOUT GPA HOLDINGS LTD. (GPA)

We are a private company incorporated in Rwanda since February 2018. The company is a holding with investments in Rwanda, South Africa, and other African countries. In Rwanda, GPA’s activities include sales and distribution of Afrikoa Chocolates to wholesales, hotels, airlines, and restaurants. GPA invests in various sectors such as commodities, hospitality, and real estate. Within 3 years of existence, the organization is growing its portfolio of assets across countries and new sectors.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Operations Manager GPA & Managing Director or Country Representative, the Business Development Manager plays an instrumental role in executing the procurement, transportation, supply, storage, marketing, and sale of petroleum products in line with GPA policies and procedures in Rwanda and across the African continent. To do this, the right candidate must be someone who can bring a high level of professionalism, proactivity, integrity, creativity, collaboration,
high taste for excellence, and energy to the GPA Team. In this role, the successful candidate will lead all aspects of the organization’s petroleum trading operations from Rwanda. The successful candidate will work closely with various stakeholders within and outside of GPA Rwanda to meet the company’s strategic goals.

RESPONSABILITIES

Supply Chain, Trade Finance & Logistics

- Participate in defining specifications for petroleum products to be procured and identified as a supply source.
- Prepare and implement a supply plan and schedule for procurement and supply of petroleum products.
- Liaise with Financial Institutions in connection to suppliers, transporters, and GPA Trade Financing products such as LCs where applicable.
- Prepare and implement quality control measures for procurement and supply of petroleum products.
- Assist logistical processes within the petroleum supply and distribution chain in liaison with relevant stakeholders.
- Manage and Maintain Customer Relationships with the Key Accounts in your portfolio.
- Attend to customer requirements and inquiries.

Reporting

- Maintain and update the CRM system daily.
- To visit your portfolio of customers as required and manage all correspondence to customers.
- Having a follow-up system to ensure daily reports of cargo movement to GPA Management and clients
- Filling and general admin duties in the petroleum desk.
- Market Intelligence : knowing what your competitors are doing all the time.

REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in either Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Economics, Statistics, Commerce, Marketing, Business Administration or any other related degree.
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration will be an added advantage.
- Training in HSE principles is an added advantage.
- Have a good understanding of Trade Finance and Banking products relating to bulk trade.
- Should have demonstrable relevant working experience of at least six (6) years, three (3) of which should be in downstream petroleum business.
- Good understanding of Trade Finance
